Not Quite Sure....

what I want to say today. I really don't have anything of importance to say. So, this will be interesting to see what spews from my brain. The two things that have occupied my thoughts the past couple of weeks have been: half of my summer chemistry course (drama) and the other half everything to do with adopting. Which isn't very strange but it is. I only think its strange cuz I'm thinking more and more about it. Hmmmm......sometimes I think I'm thinking more about it because I don't want to think about anything to do with chemistry and adoption stuff makes me happy and excited. Anyhow, chemistry bites. I am not a fan. I had my first test today and I have no clue how I did. I'll be stressed until I find out.

I have 30 Minute Meals on while I blog.....mindless stuff. I love this program though. All the recipes I've tried from Rachel Ray are good and easy to make. Which brings me to another thought......I know that people acutally sit down and eat their meals at a table...but do most people do the full on decorated table? I mean the pretty coordinating plates, glasses, place mats etc. with each dish in a nice coordinatined pretty bowl or dish. Or do real people actually eat on whatever plates and glasses are easiest to reach with the meal still in the pots and pans? Does that make sense? Basically, just picture a nicely decorated table in the Pottery Barn catalog or the magazine Better Homes and Gardens. Is this how most people eat their meals? Candles burning and all? I would love to be that woman that had the perfect everything, but that is just not me. I'm a bit of a scattered mess. I wonder if that's what my Bubba loves about me? I would love to eat at a table every night, but that's just not the way we roll. Brad and I are lucky if we see each other before 10pm most nights. It is rare if we eat a meal together during the week. He also isn't a fan of eating at the table.....that will change when we have kids. We get to eat at a table usually on Sunday when we eat with Kelly and clan. Kelly and I try to rotate Sunday Dinner. I LOVE Sunday dinner. It is usually a big meal and we tend to go all out....not all of the time but most of the time. She makes it one week and I make it the other. I love it that we do this. Ever since our mom moved a few years ago, we've been pretty diligent in keeping the tradition going. Anyhow, besides Sunday dinner or eating out, that's pretty much the only time we eat at an actual table. I can't wait until we do it all the time!!

For not having anything to say, I think I've said enough. Just another little glimpse into my scattered brain.

We never used to eat at the table until we had kids either...come to think about it, I didn't really start cooking until we moved to NM and that was when our table finally started getting used...Six years into marriage! Oh well...dream on about the gorgeous table settings too! Ours is all mis-matched and consists of a lot of "divider" plates with Disney characters on them, but at least we're eating together!!

Pottery Barn catalogs? That's fairy-tale land. We all wish we could live there but you'd have to have "Alice" from the Brady Bunch live there too. Oh, and Bree Hodge from Desperate Housewives. We eat together most nights, but the table is usually littered with all kinds of crap (junk mail, receipts, stuff nobody knows what to do with). It just gets pushed onto an unused chair. The only time there is any formal "tablescape" is probably a holiday, and if I feel like making a fuss over it. (It's been a while).

You mean people actually set their tables like those in the pottery barn catalogs? We DO eat as a family AT the table even...but the buck stops there. Paper plates, my friend. We know its a fancy dinner if we eat from the plastic sectioned pottery barn kids plates!

we eat as a family if Darin makes it home before we all starve to death. Real plates only get used if the paper ones are gone. I'm really bad about that--we use paper EVERY day. I don't think I've ever "dressed" a table...
